Kevin @ University Of Minnesota

April 15, 2016

My name is Kevin and I am currently a masters student in Computer Science, at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN.

I am very interested in the latest research and crypto dealing with smart cards. The fact that these crypto algorithms are not always vetted fully and are used by millions of companies is amazing to me. I think the academic world could help find these vulnerabilities before malicious users do, and release the findings to the companies to ensure that the masses using these items are informed. I have taken some training on RFID and Privacy concerns and it was eye-opening.

I hope to perform a little research on my own and bring forth a research project to my professors/advisors as something I can use for a Masters project. I think having some proof of concept and mini-demos would go a long way in convincing them to help with this and contribute to the Promark3 community! I am particularly interested in the HF portion since the LF and prox card has been known to be vulnerable for a very long time now. I am interested in the cutting edge development and issues regarding security and privacy, NFC and secure payments, smart cards, and the like - they are the way of the future!
